AHA vs BHA – Which Exfoliant is Right for You?
Introduction
AHA and BHA are both exfoliating acids, but they act differently on the skin.
AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids)
- Examples: Glycolic, Lactic, Mandelic
- Work on the skin’s surface
- Improve radiance and texture
BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid)
- Salicylic Acid is the main one
- Penetrates into pores
- Great for acne-prone, oily skin
Which to Choose?
AHAs suit dry or sun-damaged skin, BHAs suit oily/acne-prone. Some people use both (on alternate days).
